Disciple’s Heart Morning Primer

The Disciple’s Heart Primer is a tool developed by the Big Pine Key Vineyard Community Church to aid you in developing a disciple’s heart. Each morning and evening you can come and fill out the appropriate Disciple’s Heart Primer. In the morning you can get connected to God and prepare for your day as a disciple. In the evening, the primer will help you review how the day went as a disciple. Anything you record in the text boxes will then be sent privately to your email account for further reflection and review.

Get Focused - What's going on today? (Read the verses from Hebrews 10:19-25 and then enter your thoughts, ideas, concerns, etc. in the text box below)...

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,
21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Get Connected - Time to pray! (Read the verses from Matthew 6:9-13 and then pray and journal your prayer focus, requests, impressions, etc. in the text box below)...

9 "This, then, is how you should pray: "'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Get Dressed - Put on the full armor of God! (Read the verses from Ephesians 6:12-18 and then enter what ever current spiritual / relational / emotional battles you are facing in the text box below)...

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Get Encouraging - Who can you encourage today? (Read the verses from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a and then list some people to encourage, bless, and pray for today in the text box below)...

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

Git r Done - Live as a Disciple today by trying to do the Next Right Thing! (Read Matthew 6:33, Matthew 7:12, and Hebrews 12:1-3 listed below. Reflect on them as often as possible throughout the day.

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

One more thing before you go, read 1 Kings 19:11-12...

11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

If the Disciple’s Heart Primer was included in Morning Prayer, it should be concluded with a Prayer of St. Chrysostom, the Doxology, and the Grace.

A Prayer of St. Chrysostom is said by all those gathered along with the pastor or leader

Almighty God, You have given us grace in our time of need to bring before You our common requests; and promise that when two or three are gathered together in Your name You will grant their requests; fulfill now, Lord, the desires and petitions of Your servants in ways that are most suitable for them; granting us in this world knowledge of Your truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. AMEN.

The Doxology may be sung by all those gathered along with the pastor or leader

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. AMEN.

The Grace is said by the pastor or leader

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. AMEN. 2 Corinthians 13:14.
