Day 3 – Points to Ponder

As His disciples, we are to experience a new and living way, a new way of living, a new living way.

1. New

2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

God is in the ‘NEW’ business.

Revelation 5:21a
5 He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

I love that. New mercies, new day, new start, new life. New. Today is a new day. I wake up and get a cosmic do over every day. I get do overs throughout the day. I love do overs. I loved them as a kid and I love them now.

I enter His throne room as a new creation because of what Jesus has done. I am forgiven in Him, I am presentable in Him, I am acceptable in Him, because IN CHRIST I am a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.

2. Living

John 10:10
10 The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

The thief, the evil one does not want you to experience full life in this new and living way. He wants to try and trap you in old and dead. He wants to steal away the life that you can have in Christ.

One of the ways he does it is by trying to keep you focused on the old and dead. Trying to keep you from seeing yourself IN CHRIST as a new creation. He wants to try and focus you on your mess. On your brokenness. He wants to use guilt and shame to keep you from full life, to steal, kill and destroy you. He wants to get you stuck in your past.

Ephesians 2:4-5
4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

The thief does not want you to know grace. He does not want you to have life. A lot of people are stuck in their past. Stuck in their guilt, shame, anger, and hurt. Their perspective on life is passed through a series of old dead filters from old dead living.

People stuck in yesterday, stuck in all the bad things they have done and all the bad things that have happened to them, don’t live. You can’t change yesterday.

The only thing that yesterday can help you with is to hopefully teach you about what you should do differently today. But you are not living if you are stuck in your past. Listen to these verses from the Apostle Paul:

Philippians 3:12-14
12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Paul is saying, I am not perfect, but I am not going to live in what is behind, I am going to press on to what God has called me to in Christ. My perspective is not behind, my perspective for life is in Him. This new perspective is found in His…

3. Way

Romans 12:2
2Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

His way. His will. Not the culture’s way, which is a reflection of the enemy. Not trapped in guilt, shame, fear, and worry. But having a throne room perspective on the full life of a disciple. Everyday. I can enter into the glorious throne room of God, the Most Holy Place, because I am a new creation in Christ, and I am pressing on to the life that He has called me for. I am living by trying to do the next right thing. Messing up, running back to my heavenly father, asking for and receiving forgiveness and getting a do over so I can live in His new living way.
